Another name: Sacramento
São Sebastião do Sacramento became a district of Manhuassu (now spelled Manhuaçú) in October 1878, which was situated more than 210 km east of the provincial capital of Ouro Preto, and this status has remained until today.
As Paula Sobrinho writes in História Postal de Minas Gerais (Belo Horizonte, 1997), there has been a post office there since January 1883. This is confirmed by the Rio press:
The imperial postmark is SMG-2655a (Coll. José A. Junges): a double circle with the inscription S. SEBASTIÃO DO SACRAMENTO above and an ornament in lozenge below, the four sides of which are open. Dates in the centre from 1887 to 1909.
