Serra do Commercio (Mountains of Commerce) was, from October 1855, a parish in the freguesia of Sant’Anna das Palmeiras near Iguaçu, the foot of the mountain of the same name (also called Tinguá) located about 60 km northwest of the capital Rio de Janeiro. In October 1882, the freguesia was abolished and Serra do Commercio was directly assigned to Iguaçu. The construction of the Tinguá railway station on site in 1883 initiated the change of the town’s name:
The local post office was created in May 1877 and was already closed in July 1886, as Paulo Novaes (agenciaspostais.com.br) writes. The imperial postmark is SRJ-1585a (Coll. Fuad Ferreira Fo.): an ellipse with the inscription SERRA/DO/COMMERCIO, found with dates up to at least 1883. Later postmarks of this locality bear the inscription TINGUÁ.

Serra do Commercio (Gebirge des Handels) war ab Oktober 1855 eine Pfarrei in der Freguesia von Sant’Anna das Palmeiras bei Iguaçu, die Fuß des gleichnamigen Gebirges (auch Tinguá genannt) lag ca. 60 km nordwestlich der Hauptstadt Rio de Janeiro entfernt. Im Oktober 1882 wurde die Freguesia abgeschafft und Serra do Commercio wurde direkt Iguaçu zugeordnet. Der Bau des Bahnhofs Tinguá 1883 vor Ort leitete den Wechsel des Ortsnamens ein:
Das örtliche Postamt entstand im Mai 1877 und wurde bereits im Juli 1886 geschlossen, wie Paulo Novaes (agenciaspostais.com.br) schreibt. Der kaiserliche Poststempel ist SRJ-1585a (Samml. Fuad Ferreira Fo.): eine Ellipse mit der Inschrift SERRA/DO/COMMERCIO, gefunden mit Daten bis mindestens 1883. Spätere Stempel dieser Ortschaft tragen die Inschrift TINGUÁ.
