Villa Bella was a district in the Municipio of Flores from April 1838, located on the north bank of the Pajeú River, over 400 km west of the provincial capital Recife. In May 1851 it became a vila and in July 1909 a town, which has been called Serra Talhada since December 1938.
Two dates of origin for the local post office were found, firstly in 1854, as shown in the postal report (Relatorio Postal) for 1887. The next creation year would be 1873, as stated in the Directory of Imperial Post Offices (Tabella das Agencias do Correio do Imperio, Rio de Janeiro, 1885). Two postmarks have also survived in the 19th century, but unfortunately not the very first one among them. The French type VPE-0680b (Coll. Roberto Assef Jr.) has the inscription VILLA-BELLA in a double circle at the top and the typical star between brackets at the bottom. The centre was free – as usual in Pernambuco, so that the date would be entered by hand, which happened rather rarely. This cancel was found on stamps issued from 1885 onwards. VPE-0680c (Coll. José A. Junges) could already be republican. The double circle now reads VILLA BELLA without hyphen above, (PERNAMBUCO) below. One copy was found, dated 1891 in the centre.

Villa Bella war ab April 1838 ein Distrikt im Municipio von Flores, der am Nordufer des Flusses Pajeú lag, über 400 km westlich der Provinzhauptstadt Recife entfernt. Im Mai 1851 wurde daraus eine Vila und im Juli 1909 eine Stadt, die seit Dezember 1938 Serra Talhada heißt.
Zwei Entstehungsdaten fürs örtliche Postamt wurden gefunden. Erstmals 1854, wie aus dem Postbericht (Relatorio Postal) für 1887 hervorgeht. Dann 1873, wie im Verzeichnis der kaiserlichen Postämter (Tabella das Agencias do Correio do Imperio, Rio de Janeiro, 1885) zu lesen ist. Auch zwei Poststempel sind im 19. Jahrhundert überliefert, aber leider nicht der allererste darunter. Der französischer Typus VPE-0680b (Samml. Roberto Assef Jr.) hat oben im Doppelkreis die Inschrift VILLA-BELLA und unten den typischen Stern zwischen Klammern. Das Zentrum war frei – wie in Pernambuco üblich, damit das Datum per Hand eingetragen werden sollte, was eher selten geschah. Dieser Stempel wurde auf Marken gefunden, die ab 1885 ausgegeben wurden. VPE-0680c (Samml. José A. Junges) könnte bereits republikanisch sein. Im Doppelkreis liest man oben nun VILLA BELLA ohne Bindestrich, unten (PERNAMBUCO). Ein Exemplar vorhanden, datiert 1891 in der Mitte.
