Other names: Chapada, Cristina, Cristinápolis (1943)
The former settlement of São Francisco de Assis da Chapada was located, as the name suggests, on the hillside more than 100 km southwest of the provincial capital Aracaju. In October 1878, the ascent to the villa took place under the name Christina, probably in honour of the Empress Teresa Cristina. In December 1938, the place name was simplified to Cristina and five years later it was complicated to Cristinápolis.
According to the Rio press, there had been a post office there since October 1882:
The only postmark of this place so far bears a date from 1901, but it could be a remaining from the Empire: VSE-0180a (Coll. Fuad Ferreira Fo.) is a double circle with the inscription VILLA CHRISTINA above and an ornament in lozenge below formed by four small lozenges, with the date in the centre.

Die ehemalige Siedlung von São Francisco de Assis da Chapada lag, wie der Name schon sagt, am Berghang über 100 km südwestlich der Provinzhauptstadt Aracaju entfernt. Im Oktober 1878 erfolgte der Aufstieg zur Villa unter dem Namen Christina, wohl zu Ehren der Kaiserin Teresa Cristina. Im Dezember 1938 wurde der Ortsname zu Cristina vereinfacht und fünf Jahre später zu Cristinápolis verkompliziert.
Wie aus der Presse aus Rio zu entnehmen ist, gab es dort seit Oktober 1882 ein Postamt:
Der bisher einzige Poststempel dieses Orts trägt zwar ein Datum aus 1901, könnte aber noch vom Kaiserreich stammen: VSE-0180a (Samml. Fuad Ferreira Fo.) ist ein Doppelkreis mit der Inschrift VILLA CHRISTINA oben und einem Ornament in Raute unten, das aus vier kleinen Rauten gebildet wird, mit dem Datum in der Mitte.
