Cachoeiro station (also spelled Cachoeira) was opened in November 1878 by the E.F. de Carangola company on the north bank of the Muriaé in the Vila de Campos area, 310 km northeast of the capital Rio de Janeiro. In 1890, the railway line changed hands twice: to E.F. Barão de Araruama and then to E.F. Leopoldina. In 1894, the station was renamed Cardoso Moreira, in memory of the Portuguese Jozé Cardoso Moreira (1815-1889), large landowner and entrepreneur of the region:
The railway line belonged to Rede Ferroviária Federal S.A. (estacoesferroviarias.com.br) from 1975 until its closure in 1996. Today, the tracks have disappeared and the station building serves as the meeting hall of the town hall (Câmara Municipal).
As shown in the Directory of Imperial Post Offices (Tabella das Agencias do Correio do Imperio, Rio de Janeiro, 1885), there was a post office at the station since 1880. The only Imperial postmark so far is CRJ-0235a and has already been shown on agenciaspostais.com.br:

Der Bahnhof Cachoeiro (auch Cachoeira geschrieben) wurde im November 1878 von der Gesellschaft E.F. de Carangola eröffnet und lag am Nordufer des Muriaé im Gebiet der Vila de Campos, 310 km nordöstlich der Hauptstadt Rio de Janeiro. Im Jahr 1890 wechselte die Bahnlinie zweimal den Besitzer: E.F. Barão de Araruama und anschließend E.F. Leopoldina. 1894 wurde der Bahnhof in Cardoso Moreira umbenannt, in Erinnerung an den Portugiesen Jozé Cardoso Moreira (1815-1889), Großgrundbesitzer und Unternehmer der Region:

Die Bahnlinie gehörte von 1975 bis zu ihrer Stilllegung 1996 der Rede Ferroviária Federal S.A. (estacoesferroviarias.com.br). Heute sind die Gleise verschwunden, das Bahnhofsgebäude dient als Sitzungssaal des Rathauses (Câmara Municipal).
Wie aus dem Verzeichnis der kaiserlichen Postämter (Tabella das Agencias do Correio do Imperio, Rio de Janeiro, 1885) hervorgeht, gab es ein Postamt am Bahnhof seit 1880. Der bisher einzige Poststempel des Kaiserreichs ist CRJ-0235a und wurde bereits auf agenciaspostais.com.br gezeigt:
