Another name: Cachoeira do Sul (1944)
This Cachoeira was from January 1877 a freguesia belonging to the Vila of Rio Pardo, on the north bank of the Jacuí, 200 km west of the later provincial capital Porto Alegre. In April 1819 it became a vila and in December 1859 a town, which since December 1944 has been called Cachoeira do Sul, probably to avoid confusion with places of the same name throughout the country.
Here, too, the post office was created at least twice. First in January 1831, as Nova Monteiro writes in Administrações e Agencias Postaes do Brasil Imperio (Brasil Filatelico/RJ, 1934-5; reprinted by SPP 1994-1999). Then in 1846, as can be read in Annuario Politico, Historico e Estatistico:
The oldest cancel so far is the pre-philatelic CRS-0055a, listed in the RHM catalogue under P-RS-03:
It was followed by CRS-0055b, which in turn was recorded by Paulo Ayres (Catálogo de Carimbos Brasil-Império, S. Paulo, 1937, 1942) under no. 1563:
From the Everaldo N. Santos collection comes the French type CRS-0055c, found so far with dates of 1877 and 1878, and here CAXOEIRA writes x:
Then came CRS-0055d, which also occurred in blue and purple in 1884-1893 and was shown by R. Koester in Carimbologia VII:

A not quite mute cancellation from Cachoeira was in use from about 1882 until after 1888 and is listed both in P. Ayres (op. cit.) with no. 1047 and in Mute Cancellations of the Brazil Empire / Carimbos Mudos do Brasil Império, (Brazil Philatelic Association, Rio de Janeiro, 2000) by James Dingler and Klerman W. Lopes with no. 4485:

Dieses Cachoeira war ab Januar 1877 eine Freguesia, die zur Vila von Rio Pardo gehörte, am Nordufer des Jacuí, 200 km westlich der späteren Provinzhauptstadt Porto Alegre. Im April 1819 wurde es eine Vila und im Dezember 1859 eine Stadt, die seit Dezember 1944 Cachoeira do Sul heißt, wohl um Verwechslungen mit gleichnamigen Orten im restlichen Land zu vermeiden.
Auch hier wurde das Postamt mindestens zweimal gegründet. Zuerst im Januar 1831, wie Nova Monteiro in Administrações e Agencias Postaes do Brasil Imperio (Brasil Filatelico/RJ, 1934-5; Nachdruck SPP 1994-1999) schreibt. Dann 1846, wie im Annuario Politico, Historico e Estatistico nachzulesen ist:
