São Braz (today wrtitten Brás) was from May 1875 on a district in the municipality of Porto Real do Colégio, situated on the north bank of the São Francisco River, near the Sergipe border, round 180 km southwest of the province capital Maceió. In June 1889 it ascended to a villa in own municipality.
According to Aldo Cardoso (Contribuição para a História dos Correios de Alagoas, Maceió, 1969), the local post office was created in November 1879. No postal cancel from the Empire could be safely identified for this locality until now.
São Braz (heute Brás geschrieben) war ab Mai 1875 ein Distrikt im Município von Porto Real do Colégio, der am Nordufer des Flusses São Francisco nah an der Grenze zu Sergipe lag, rund 180 km südwestlich der Provinzhauptstadt Maceió. Im Juni 1889 stieg er zu einer Villa im eigenen Município auf.
In seiner Contribuição para a História dos Correios de Alagoas (Maceió, 1969) schreibt Aldo Cardoso, es gibt dort ein Postamt seit November 1879. Kein Stempel aus dem Kaiserreich konnte bisher mit Sicherheit dieser Ortschaft zugeordnet werden.
