The chapel of N. Sra. do Amparo was built in July 1824 and was located on the south bank of the river Camanducaia in the villa of Bragança, 130 km north of the provincial capital São Paulo. The village rose to the status of freguesia in March 1839 and to vila in March 1857; Amparo has been a town since March 1865.
As Nova Monteiro writes in Administrações e Agencias Postaes do Brasil Imperio (Brasil Filatelico/RJ, 1934-5; reprint SPP 1994-1999), there was a post office there from March 1860. The oldest postmark is ASP-0020a, which was in circulation until at least 1872, also occurs in blue and red and was already presented by Paulo Ayres in Catálogo de Carimbos Brasil-Império (S. Paulo, 1937, 1942) under no. 1198:
Its successor is the French type ASP-0020b (Coll. Fuad Ferreira Fo.): a double circle with the inscription AMPARO above and the star between brackets below. The only copy so far has a date from 1883 in the centre. ASP-0020c was used between 1885 and 1887 and is also listed in Paulo Ayres (op. cit.):
Then there came ASP-0020d, which has internal dates from 1887 to 1896 and was already presented by R. Koester in Carimbologia (I):
Through Koester (op. cit.) we also know the railway cancellation (Correio Ambulante) ASP-0021a for Amparo, dated 1885:
Amparo station was inaugurated in August 1875 by the Companhia Mogyana (estacoesferroviarias.com.br), but so far nothing has been found about a station post office on place.

Die Kapelle von N. Sra. do Amparo wurde im Juli 1824 errichtet und lag am Südufer des Flusses Camanducaia in der Villa von Bragança, 130 km nördlich der Provinzhauptstadt São Paulo. Der Ort stieg im März 1839 zur Freguesia und im März 1857 zur Vila auf; seit März 1865 ist Amparo eine Stadt.
Wie Nova Monteiro im Administrações e Agencias Postaes do Brasil Imperio (Brasil Filatelico/RJ, 1934-5; Reprint SPP 1994-1999) schreibt, gab es dort ein Postamt seit März 1860. Der älteste Poststempel ist ASP-0020a , der bis mindestens 1872 im Umlauf war, auch in blau und rot vorkommt und bereits durch Paulo Ayres in Catálogo de Carimbos Brasil-Império (S. Paulo, 1937, 1942) unter der Nr. 1198 vorgestellt wurde:
Sein Nachfolger ist der Französischer Typ ASP-0020b (Samml. Fuad Ferreira Fo.): ein Doppelkreis mit der Inschrift AMPARO oben und dem Stern zwischen Klammern unten. Das bisher einzige Exemplar hat ein Datum aus 1883 in der Mitte. ASP-0020c wurde zwischen 1885 und 1887 verwendet und ist auch in Paulo Ayres (op. cit.) aufgelistet:
Danach kam ASP-0020d, der innere Daten von 1887 bis 1896 hat und bereits durch R. Koester in Carimbologia (I) präsentiert wurde:
Durch Koester (op. cit.) kennen wir auch die Bahnabstempelung (Correio Ambulante) ASP-0021a für Amparo, datiert 1885:
Der Bahnhof Amparo wurde im August 1875 durch die Companhia Mogyana eingeweiht (estacoesferroviarias.com.br), aber bisher wurde nichts über ein Bahnhofspostamt vor Ort gefunden.
