Other name: Sigismundo Gonçalves
Angelim station was inaugurated in June 1887 by the E.F. do Recife ao São Francisco railway company (Garanhuns branch) and was located in the Município of Garanhuns, more than 200 km southwest of the provincial capital Recife. The railway line went to the Great Western railway company in 1901, and belonged to Rede Ferroviária do Nordeste from 1950 until the line was closed in 1971.
Between 1908 until ca. 1918 the station was renamed to Sigismundo Gonçalves to celebrate Sigismundo Antonio Gonçalves (1845-1915), a journalist and politician who served as provincial president in Pernambuco both at the end of the Empire and in the Republic:
The village became the Vila of Palmeira in January 1909 and since June 1931 it has been the Município of Angelim.

Der Bahnhof Angelim wurde im Juni 1887 von der E.F. do Recife ao São Francisco Bahngesellschaft (Garanhuns-Abzweigung) eingeweiht und lag im Município von Garanhuns, über 200 km südwestlich der Provinzhauptstadt Recife entfernt. Die Bahnlinie ging 1901 zur Great Western Bahngesellschaft, von 1950 bis zur Streckenstilllegung 1971 gehörte sie der Rede Ferroviária do Nordeste.
Zwischen 1908 und ca. 1918 hieß der Bahnhof Sigismundo Gonçalves als Hommage an Sigismundo Antonio Gonçalves (1845-1915), ein Journalist und Politiker, der als Provinzpräsident in Pernambuco sowohl am Ende des Kaiserreich als auch in der Republik tätig war:
Die Ortschaft wurde im Januar 1909 die Vila von Palmeira und seit Juni 1931 ist sie der Município von Angelim.
