Cachoeira do Funil station was opened in September 1885 by the E.F. Rio das Flores railway company (Afonso Arinos Branch) and was located on the Rio das Flores around Vila de Valença, 180 north of Rio de Janeiro. The station belonged to the Vila de Santa Teresa from March 1890, which has been the Município Rio das Flores since December 1943. The railway line passed to the E.F. Central do Brasil in 1910 and was closed in 1965. The tracks have since been removed and the station building is now used as a residence (estacoesferroviarias.com.br).
According to the capital’s press, there was a post office in the station from January 1886:
The post office was closed around 1963 (agenciaspostais.com.br). The station postmark is CRJ-0240a, used from 1886 to at least 1897, and has already been presented by R. Koester (Carimbologia VII):
Der Bahnhof Cachoeira do Funil wurde im September 1885 von der Eisenbahngesellschaft E.F. Rio das Flores (Abzweig Afonso Arinos) eröffnet und lag am Rio das Flores im Gebiet der Vila de Valença, 180 nördlich von Rio de Janeiro. Der Bahnhof gehörte ab März 1890 zur Vila de Santa Teresa, die seit Dezember 1943 der Município Rio das Flores ist. Die Bahnlinie ging 1910 an die E.F. Central do Brasil über und wurde 1965 stillgelegt. Die Gleise wurden inzwischen entfernt, das Bahnhofsgebäude dient heute als Wohnhaus (estacoesferroviarias.com.br).
