The Vila and Freguesia do Divino Espírito Santo de Ourem existed since 1753 and, as was customary in the province of Pará, was named after a Portuguese municipality, this currently has a population of approximately 5,000. The Brazilian Ourém was located on the north bank of the Guamá, 190 km east of the later provincial capital Belém. In November 1887 and December 1931, it was downgraded to a parish and then a district, respectively, and placed under the authority of the Vila de S. Miguel do Guamá. However, in 1889 and January 1833, it regained its administrative autonomy.
As Nova Monteiro writes in Administrações e Agencias Postaes do Brasil Imperio (Brasil Filatelico/RJ, 1934-5; reprinted by SPP 1994-1999), there had been a post office there since July 1860. The oldest postmark to date, OPA-0195b (image from the internet), already bears a date from the Republic:

Em novembro de 1887 e dezembro de 1931, foi rebaixada a freguesia e distrito, respectivamente, e subordinada à Vila de S. Miguel do Guamá. Em 1889 e janeiro de 1833, porém, recuperou sua autonomia administrativa.
