This locality was originally a fazenda (farm) called Pindoba on the Rochedo stream, 230 kilometres southwest of the provincial capital Recife.
In 1844, the settlement was named Palmeira and belonged to the município (municipality) of Garanhuns. In July 1909, it became part of the municipality of Canhotinho as a district. In September 1928, it became the city of Palmeira, but lost this status in June 1931 when it became a district of the municipality of Angelim. In December 1943, it was renamed Palmeirina. Palmeirina has been an independent municipality since December 1948.
As can be seen from the directory of imperial post offices (Tabella das Agencias do Correio do Imperio, Rio de Janeiro, 1885), there has been a post office there since 1878. The only postmark from the 19th century is PPE-0440b (image from the internet):

Esta localidade era originalmente uma fazenda chamada Pindoba, situada às margens do riacho Rochedo, 230 quilômetros a sudoeste da posterior capital provincial Recife.
Em 1844, o povoado recebeu o nome de Palmeira e passou a pertencer ao município de Garanhuns. Em julho de 1909, tornou-se distrito do município de Canhotinho. Em setembro de 1928, tornou-se o município de Palmeira, mas perdeu esse status em junho de 1931, quando passou a ser distrito do município de Angelim. Em dezembro de 1943, foi renomeada Palmeirina. Desde dezembro de 1948, Palmeirina é um município independente.
Conforme consta na Tabella das Agências do Correio do Império (Rio de Janeiro, 1885), havia uma agência dos correios no local desde 1878. O único carimbo postal do século XIX encontrado até o momento é o PPE-0440b (figura da internet):

1844 wurde die Siedlung Palmeira genannt und gehörte zum Município de Garanhuns. Im Juli 1909 wurde sie als Distrito Teil des Município de Canhotinho. Im September 1928 wurde sie zur Stadt Palmeira, verlor diesen Status jedoch im Juni 1931, als sie ein Distrikt des Município de Angelim wurde. Im Dezember 1943 wurde sie in Palmeirina umbenannt. Seit Dezember 1948 ist Palmeirina ein eigenständiger Município.
Wie aus dem Verzeichnis der kaiserlichen Postämter (Tabella das Agencias do Correio do Imperio, Rio de Janeiro, 1885) hervorgeht, gab es dort ein Postamt seit 1878. Der bisher einzige Poststempel im 19. Jahrhundert ist PPE-0440b (Abb. aus dem Internet):
