Pedra Negra (Black Stone) station was opened in June 1888 by the E. F. Oeste de Minas railway company (Ribeirão Vermelho branch) on the north bank of the Rio Grande in the municipality of Bom Sucesso. It was situated 270 km south-west of the provincial capital, Ouro Preto. From 1931 until its closure in 1966, the railway line belonged to the Rede Mineira de Viação. The station and the area around were flooded in 2002 when the Funil dam was built.
R. Koester writes in Carimbologia XXX that the station post office was created on 11 November 1889. Paula Sobrinho (História Postal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, 1997) cites a date exactly one month later. Seen in this light, it is not surprising that no imperial postmark has been found from this station, which has disappeared.
A estação de Pedra Negra foi inaugurada em junho de 1888 pela Companhia Ferroviária E. F. Oeste de Minas (ramal de Ribeirão Vermelho), na margem norte do Rio Grande, no município de Bom Sucesso. Ficava a 270 km a sudoeste da capital provincial, Ouro Preto. De 1931 até o fechamento em 1966, a linha ferroviária pertenceu à Rede Mineira de Viação. A estação e a área ao redor foram inundadas em 2002, quando a barragem do Funil foi construída.
R. Koester escreve em Carimbologia XXX que, em 11 de novembro de 1889, foi criada a agência postal da estação. Paula Sobrinho (História Postal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, 1997) menciona entretanto uma data exatamente um mês depois. Diante disso, não é de se admirar que nenhum carimbo postal imperial tenha sido encontrado nessa estação, que já não existe mais.
Der Bahnhof Pedra Negra (Schwarzer Stein bzw. Felsen) wurde im Juni 1888 von der Eisenbahngesellschaft E. F. Oeste de Minas (Zweig Ribeirão Vermelho) am Nordufer des Rio Grande im Município de Bom Sucesso eröffnet. Er lag 270 km südwestlich der Provinzhauptstadt Ouro Preto. Von 1931 bis zur Stilllegung im Jahr 1966 gehörte die Bahnlinie zur Rede Mineira de Viação. Das Areal um den Bahnhof wurde im Jahr 2002 überflutet, als der Staudamm Funil errichtet wurde.
R. Koester schreibt in Carimbologia XXX, dass am 11. November 1889 die Einrichtung eines Bahnhofspostamts beschlossen wurde. Paula Sobrinho (História Postal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, 1997) nennt jedoch dafür ein Datum, das genau einen Monat später liegt. So gesehen wundert es nicht, dass kein kaiserlicher Poststempel aus diesem inzwischen verschwundenen Bahnhof gefunden wurde.
