Pombal station was opened in September 1887 by the railway company Cia. Lloyd Brasileiro. It was situated in the municipality of Cachoeiro do Itapemirim, 200 kilometres south-west of the provincial capital, Vitória. The railway line was transferred to the Espírito Santo and Caravellas Railway Co. Ltd. in 1898 and belonged to E.F. Leopoldina from 1907 until its closure in 1972. Today, the tracks have been removed and the station building has been demolished.
Since November 1890, the station has been located in the Município de Alegre. Around 1910, it was renamed Reeve, in honour of a deceased British engineer from the railway company. Later, the name was changed to Rive to make it easier for Brazilians to pronounce.
R. Koester writes in Carimbologia XXXII that there had been a post office at the station since February 1888. According to P. Novaes (agenciaspostais.com.br), it was closed in September 1924. The only postmark from the 19th century found to date is PES-0125a (Fig. Luiz C. Fritzen):

A estação ferroviária de Pombal foi inaugurada em setembro de 1887 pela Companhia Lloyd Brasileiro. Ela ficava no município de Cachoeiro do Itapemirim, a 200 quilômetros a sudoeste da capital do estado, Vitória. A linha passou para a Espírito Santo and Caravellas Railway Co. Ltd. em 1898 e pertenceu à E.F. Leopoldina de 1907 até o seu desativamento, em 1972. Hoje, os trilhos foram removidos e o prédio da estação foi demolido.
Desde novembro de 1890, a estação estava no município de Alegre. Por volta de 1910, foi renomeada como Reeve, em homenagem a um falecido engenheiro britânico da companhia ferroviária. Posteriormente, o nome foi alterado para Rive, a fim de facilitar a pronúncia para os brasileiros.
R. Koester escreve em Carimbologia XXXII que havia uma agência dos correios na estação desde fevereiro de 1888. Segundo P. Novaes (agenciaspostais.com.br), ela foi fechada em setembro de 1924. O único carimbo postal conhecido do século XIX é o PES-0125a (ilustração de Luiz C. Fritzen):

Der Bahnhof Pombal wurde im September 1887 von der Eisenbahngesellschaft Cia. Lloyd Brasileiro eingeweiht. Er lag im Município de Cachoeiro do Itapemirim, 200 Kilometer südwestlich der Provinzhauptstadt Vitória. Die Bahnlinie ging 1898 an die Gesellschaft Espirito Santo and Caravellas Railway Co. Ltd. über und gehörte von 1907 bis zur Stilllegung im Jahr 1972 zur E.F. Leopoldina. Heute sind die Gleise entfernt und das Bahnhofsgebäude wurde abgerissen.
Seit November 1890 liegt der Bahnhof im Município de Alegre. Um 1910 wurde er in Reeve umbenannt, zu Ehren eines verstorbenen britischen Ingenieurs der Bahngesellschaft. Später wurde der Name zu Rive geändert, um die Aussprache für die Brasilianer zu erleichtern.
